On Monday, September 4, 2006 after you have enjoyed the Kannada conference
in all its pomp and glory, you can enjoy the wonderful sights of Washington, DC
in a luxurious air-conditioned bus. A professional tour guide will accompany
you on this tour, and explain the history of the city and the various
historical places you will see.
The tour will start from the Wyndham Hotel at 9:00 AM and will stop at
the Baltimore Washington Airport at 5:00 PM, and terminate at the Wyndham Hotel.
We will stop for lunch at an Indian restaurant sometime in the afternoon.
On this tour you will be driven by the White House, Supreme Court, The Capitol Building,
Lincoln Memorial, The Jefferson Memorial, World War II Memorial, and the FDR Memorial.
You may also see the infamous Watergate Building, the Kennedy Center (this is the concert
hall where Lata Mangeshkar has performed in the past).
You will take a walking tour of the famous Air and Space Museum (the one and only museum
of its kind) which houses the history of the space and aviation industry. Here you
will have the opportunity to see the Wright Brothers' Kitty Hawk, Voyager - the first
airplane to circle the earth without stopping to refuel, and the helicopter that
went around the globe.
