Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy who hails from the princely city of Mysore,
has turned very much a phenomenon in the Indian Classical dance scenario
over the past three decades and more of her career.
Her myriad choreographies encompassing a wide spectrum of spiritual and
secular themes are striking paradigm of her inventive brilliance.

Classical Dance : Lalitha Srinivasan

Nupura :Nupura School of Bharathanatyam is a Bangalore based Dance Company founded
in 1978 by its artistic director Lalitha Srinivasan. Highly acclaimed for her
contribution to bharathanatyam, Lalitha Srinivasan is a dancer, teacher, choreographer
and research scholar renowned for her innovative expression of contemporary Kannada
poets’ works through bharathanatyam. Trained under the aegis of Dr K. Venkatalakshamma
and Graduate of Dance from the Wesleyan University, Connecticut, USA, Srinivasan’s
aptitude to revive authentic ancient numbers based on her research work and her exposure
to western attitudes has given Nupura an enviable and rare kind of repertoire.She is the
recipient of several awards including the Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya academy award, and
the Priyadarshini Award and has authored ‘Dance in Karnataka and Dance Sculptures of Karnataka.

Classical Dance : D.Keshava
|
Dancer, choreographer, musician and teacher for dance and yoga,
D. Keshava (Born: 1946 in Mysore, Karnataka), is one among a select band of male
Bharatanatyam dancers of India. He trained in Bharatanatyam under the exacting tutelage
of Padmasri Dr. Venkatalakshamma, dancer-teacher par excellence of the Mysore style.
He also trained in various classical and folk-dance forms under other great Gurus.
He was the first male dancer to secure the First Rank in Vidwath Examination in 1973
in Karnataka - and was honoured from the Mysore University with the title
"Natyavisharada" for his Diploma and a Gold Medal for his Degree (1969-1975).
For 27 years Keshava has been living in Basel, Switzerland.
He and his partner, Esther Jenny, who have been doing pioneering work in engendering
traditional Indian art and culture in Switzerland.
