The music committee plans to provide a myriad of high quality, performance and interactive music programs to WKC 2010 attendees. Programs in all music genres including shastreeya sangeeta, bhavageethe, janapadageethe, rangageetha, chitrageethe are in the works. Planning is underway for performances featuring renowned musicians from India and USA, including an all-night music concert for classical and semi-classical music enthusiasts, a mega film music concert bash for the revelers and music workshops for the technically inclined. Participation of Kootas will involve solo and group performances of the highest caliber by participants of all age groups. Watch out for ANTAKSHARI details in this space. 1. Guidelines for submitting music program entries to perform at WKC 2010.
The music committee invites you to send your entry for selection to perform at WKC 2010. Please read the instructions below carefully and follow the steps to send us your music entry.
I. Music genres
Entries will be accepted in the following music genres
Group A: Gamaka, Janapadageethe, Rangageethe, Sampradayageethe
Group B: Bhaktigeethe, Bhavageethe, Chitrageethe
Group C: Karnataka shastreeya sangeeta, Harikathe, Hindustani sangeeta
II. Music entry submission
- All compositions of vocal and instrumental performances have to be of Kannada language
- Entries submitted through a Kannada koota are given preference. To submit through a koota, contact your local koota
- There is no maximum limit to the number of entries from a Kannada koota
- Group performances are given preference. Small group comprises 2-5 participants and large group comprises 6 or more participants, excluding accompaniments
- There is no age restriction for performance
- Entries have to be submitted by sending email with mp3 clip AND filling out Sangeeta_entry form

- A sample clip of your music audio of 5 minutes or less in mp3 format should be attached
- A minimum of some shruti accompaniment is preferred in the audio clip

III. Selected entries
- All general guidelines for performance set by the Program Committee are applicable

- Solo is 5 minutes
- Small group (2-5 participants) is 10 minutes
- Large group (6 or more participants) is 15 minutes
- Participants are required to adhere strictly to the allotted duration
- All participants of selected entries have to be registered to attend WKC 2010, to perform
- Selected entries with participants unregistered for the conference by August 1, 2010 will forfeit their allotted slot
- Forfeited slots will be filled by entries on wait list, by August 15, 2010
- Selected entries to submit sangeeta_requirements form sent via email, by August 20, 2010
- Participants are required to make their own arrangements of accompaniments and/or instruments for performance
- Participation is entirely voluntary without monetary remuneration

2. Guidelines for submitting entries to be invited to perform in music programs at WKC 2010.
The music committee is accepting entries from accomplished musicians from all over the world to be considered for invitation to give music programs at WKC 2010. Please read the instructions below carefully and follow the steps to send your entry to be invited to perform.
I. Music genres
Entries will be accepted in the following music genres
- Group A: Gamaka, Janapadageethe, Rangageethe, Sampradayageethe
- Group B: Bhaktigeethe, Bhavageethe, Chitrageethe
- Group C: Karnataka shastreeya sangeeta, Harikathe, Hindustani sangeeta
II. Eligibility
Artistes who meet any of the following criteria are eligible to be considered for invitation to perform at WKC 2010 music programs
- Rendered invited performances at prestigious public venues
- Provided musical accompaniment to A-grade musicians visiting from India
- Performed at music festivals such as Thyagaraja Aradhana at Cleveland and prominent musical sabhas in India
- All India Radio and/or Doordarshan/other TV performances
- Performed at forums such as Ramanavami or Ganesha chaturthi celebrations in India
- Recipient of awards/scholarships/prizes at the state/national levels or any recognition from reputed music institutions
III. Submission procedure

- Subject of email should contain 'For invitation' followed by name of artiste/group
- Email should include links to your website and/or to audio or video recording of your performance online
- If online links are not available, attach a sample music audio clip of 10 minutes in mp3 format to the email
- Attached sample audio clip should contain a recording of your concert performance
- For Chitrageethe entries, link or audio clip should contain performance with at least karaoke track
- Attach a detailed bio-data including but not limited to music training, concert experiences, awards/accolades, published peer-reviews of performances
- Detailed list of top 5 performances is required in bio-data for Hindustani and Karnataka sangeeta, and chitrageethe entries; optional for other genres
- Scanned copies of published performance reviews are acceptable
- Upcoming artistes should include age of performers in bio-data or email
- Deadline to receive entries by email is June 1, 2010
