Sub: Opportunity to meet at a National Level
Dear Alumni:
In the year 2002 we were able to have a session in Detroit and meet with some 40 or so of BMSCE Alumni who happen to be there for the AKKA Conference. As most of you are aware another AKKA World Kannada convention is planned for September 3, 4, and 5 in year 2004 Orlando Florida. Based on our past experience it is possible that many of you may be planning to attend this year also. If that is the case and in the absence of another such national level opportunity it is our desire to use your attendance to AKKA conference for a BMSCE alumni get together on September 5th at 9:00 AM at Orlando Florida. I hope someday that we are big and active enough to have our own get together but in the mean time use this kind of available opportunities to the best advantage of building up our net work, the association itself, and its activities.
The BMSCE-AAA, for those of you who have not been involved or heard off, has been very active since 1996. The organization is now approximately 100+ strong and has awarded 21 Merit cum Means scholarships in 2003. Each scholarship awarder gets eight thousand rupees. The selection criterion is strictly followed by a committee of the Faculty and BMSCE-AAA appointed members to the committee. In 2003 we also started a BMSCE Endowment Lecture series by inviting a distinguished BMSCE Alumni. Our first lecture was delivered by Dr. T. N. Subba Rao and was very well received. Other activities of the association include helping the library with technical books and journals, and mentoring the students.
We have been able to work with the local alumni and establish a parallel organization in Bangalore, which is now a registered body, with its own office bearers and finances in place. In addition the College has agreed to provide an office for the Alumni association in the campus. The office will be the catalyst for the activities and contacts.
We welcome new members and request your active participation. We encourage those of you who are planning to be in Orlando for AKKA Kannada Conference to let us know of your presence and notify us of your intention to attend the meeting on September 5th. Please visit our alumni booth for exact timings. Last date for registration at discount price is extended till July 31st. If you need information pertaining to registration please log on to http://www.akkaonline.org/ 2004 Those who are not planning to be there, but would like to know more about our activities and have questions, please write to www.bmsceaaa.org We will be very happy to respond. The association and its activities function from membership fee of $25/year and tax deductible donations. Over the years we have been fortunate to have donors who have helped us immensely in building up the scholarship funds.
Looking forward to hearing from you and more importantly meeting you in person in Orlando.
