Founded February 12, 1733 by James Oglethorpe as the 13th colony, Georgia became
the 4th US state on January 2, 1788. Today, Georgia is the ninth largest state, third
fastest-growing state in the U.S and the center for business and tourism in the southeast.
Atlanta is the Gateway to the Southeast U.S.A (7th most visited city) with the busiest
airport in the world - Hartsfield Jackson Airport welcoming 35 million visitors last
year. Atlanta ranks 4th in the number of Fortune 500 companies headquartered locally
with some big companies like Coca Cola, Home Depot started here. Our seats of education
such as University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Emory University rank very high among
global schools.
Atlanta was the birthplace of the American Civil Rights movement with Dr. Martin
Luther King leading the way with his famous “I have a dream” speech. Georgia and
Atlanta have a rich musical tradition in many music formats starting with Blues to
Rock and Roll. Atlanta is the home of multiple sport teams like the Atlanta Braves
(Baseball), Falcons (American Football), and Atlanta Hawks (Basketball). Tourist
attractions such as Coke museum, Atlanta Aquarium (largest aquarium in the world),
