AKKA
in cooperation Kannada Kootas across USA and Canada conducted
collection drive to gather used cloths, toys, and books
to distribute them to the needy people of Karnataka.
AKKA has partnered with East-meets-West Relocation company
to transfer the collected goods to Karnataka at Free of
cost. These goods will be distributed to the needy people.

Q:How does this program works?
- Kannada Kootas will communicate
to their koota members about this Charity Collection
Drive program and request them to donate used goods.
- Koota members either can bring
in their goods to one of the Kannada Koota function
or they can be collected by Koota volunteers.

Q:What kinds of items collected?
- We collected cloths, toys and
books.
- The items wrer in good shape,
not torn, holes, broken etc. Cloths were washed.
Q:Wwhat will we do with these
collected items?
- The filled boxes were shipped
from participating Kannada Kootas to Michigan
- We have over 400 boxes from
all Kannada Kootas
- AKKA has partnered with East-meets-West
relocation company to pick up these boxes from Michigan
- The relocation company will
specify a date when they will pickup the filled boxes
- The boxes from Michigan will
be shipped to their warehouse in New Jersey
- The boxes will be shipped
out from their warehouse to Bangalore via their Cargo
ship
- In Bangalore, an AKKA
representative along with another charity agency will
clear the customs and will distributed to the needy
people through volunteers.
Q: Will my donation is Tax-deductable?
- The whole intention of this
effort is to help needy people and empahsis should
NOT be on
tax deductions as we are collecting used goods, I
suspect they carry very little value.
If somebody still wants to use for tax deductions,
they can use AKKA's non-profit
