Background:

The BMS College of Engineeering American Alumni Association is a 12 year old well established association . It has successfully awarded scholarships to the students based on “Merit cum Means” criteria. The number of scholarships given on its own and by some of the Alumni through BMSCE-AAA is now stands at 22.

BMSCE-AAA has worked closely with the local alumni to revive the dormant BMS College of Engineering Alumni Association into an active and participatory group The annual alumni day and the scholarship award ceremonies has been a jointly organized event by both the associations. On the Alumni day we have instituted a tradition of honoring the distinguished alumni and invite them to deliver an endowment lecture. Some of the honoraries that the association has honored are Dr. T. N. Subba Rao, Dr., H.R. Nagendra, Dr. Apprameya, Dr. Vijay Vittal, Dr. K.H. Khincha just to name a few.

BMSCE-AA has also contributed to the library to facilitate purchase of technical books, has instituted a lecture program for the visiting alumni to share their expertise with the current students, and has instituted a mentoring program.

The donations, which are tax deductible, are deposited into interest bearing accounts and only the interest is being used to pay for the scholarships. The membership fee is a nominal $25 dollars per annum. The need is great, the demand for help is substantial, and the desire to maximize our help to the institution is compelling. The challenge is for all the alumni to join together with a simple goal “ Let us give back and help the institution that made us what we are to-day”.
