1. What is AKKA & 8th AKKA–WKC-2014?

Formed at the Kannada Sammelana in Phoenix, AZ on February 14, 1998, The Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA) is a non-profit, secular, educational, linguistic and cultural organization. AKKA is dedicated towards promoting and preserving Kannada language. The first AKKA World Kannada Conference (World Millennium Kannada Conference -WMKC 2000) was held in September 2000 in Houston, TX, followed biannually by Detroit, Orlando, Washington DC, Chicago,New Jersey, Atlanta and now 8th AKKA World Kannada Conference-2014 is being held in San Jose CA on 29, 30 and 31st August 2014.

3. What is special about the 8th AKKA WKC?

With Creativity, Innovation and Discipline at its core, Kannada Koota of Northern California (KKNC), the hosting organization of the 8th AKKA WKC, is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to make this an event that every attendee will cherish for decades. KKNC is widely regarded for its quality and professionalism in conducting cultural events, and the 8th AKKA WKC will put on display the full might of one of the strongest Kannada associations in the world outside of Karnataka. You will not regret attending this event.

4. Who are the celebrities that will be at the event?

More than 20+ celebrities and noted performers have already been approached by the conference committees and efforts are in full swing to confirm all of their participation at the event.
Puneeth Rajkumar has already confirmed his participation in the event. The list of other celebrities that have been approached includes:

  • Noted personalities from the field of Kannada literature

  • Film music directors along with their entire troupe

  • Actors and actresses – both stage as well as cine artists

  • Stand-up comedy artists

  • Musicians – Folks/Classical/light music singers, instrumentalists

  • Famous dancers and choreographers

  • Spiritual leaders

We will announce the names of these celebrities only after confirming their participation. Based on the progress we have made, we feel one celebrity will likely to be confirmed by March 1st; One more celebrity and/or a team of artists are likely to be confirmed by March 15th.

5. What entertainment programs have been planned for this event?

Numerous exciting programs have been planned for the 8th AKKA WKC, many of which are unique and innovative. While we are beginning to accept the program entries from all interested program directors this week,
we do have a plan for the type and quality of programs that we will have at this event. The line-up will certainly include:

  • A minimum of three major programs by celebrity performers

  • A good representation of programs from all major categories – music, drama, dance, comedy, interactive programs and more

  • A balanced presentation of nostalgic vs. forward-looking programs; a good blend of classical/folk/contemporary flavors

  • A fair share of children, youth and adult participation in the programs

  • A strong emphasis to creativity, quality, adherence to our convention theme and grandeur in all programs

6. Can you tell us the program schedule?

Here is the overall schedule of cultural programs. Note that this is subject to changes as we are working on the finer details of the programs:

  • August 29th (Friday) from 4 pm to 11 pm approximately

  • August 30th (Saturday) from 8:30 am to 11 pm approximately, and

  • August 31st (Sunday) from 8:30 am to midnight approximately

11. Hotel promo code is not working

Due to technical issues at the Hotel website older Promo-Codes are not valid, please re-submit details at
Accomodation Page to generate a registration link for the discounted rates. Please note that you can
register for the hotel now, but you will need to register for the AKKA convention at a later point in time. Discounted rates
are negotiated for AKKA Registrants only.

No. Separate Fees will apply to these Forums. Please check Registration Page for details.

In Business forum, successful entrepreneurs and businessmen will share their experience and vision.
Learn from experts and this is also your opportunity to network with others and succeed.

14. What is CME forum?

CME/ Health forum is a ‘Continuous Medical Education’ forum wherein the purpose is to educate the
participants in advances in several key fields of medicine.

15. How do I submit entertainment/cultural programs?
